hi this is charles hoskinson broadcasting live from warm sunny colorado i wanted to make a video because i just heard earlier today that larry king died and i have a slight personal connection to larry king and i think most people do who've been interviewed uh years ago i was in toronto at an event that tracy put on and this i think was about two years ago uh untraceable and she said hey uh larry king is gonna be there and uh we'd love have you on a panel and have him interview you along with a few other people i said boy that sounds like a lot of fun you know i remember as a little kid growing up watching larry king and he interviewed bush and reagan and nixon i think he interviewed seven presidents uh pretty much everybody in business and life from uh jerry seinfeld to steve jobs and so forth and i remember larry king live and then later on his show he had on i think rt so i went to uh the conference and i'll never forget that day i went to the uh green room and everybody was getting ready to uh to go on and uh larry was getting cleaned up and they were getting him ready to be on camera and there was a makeup artist that was taking care of him uh was a redhead and when she left he looked at me and said you know i got a thing for redheads and i said well i think that's why you've been married seven times larry and he chuckled and it was a nice little moment then we took a picture together right before i uh i went on stage and i went on stage and it was about a 45 minute panel 50 minute and the the moment that was so much fun there uh was when i mentioned that they were using 3d printers to print drugs and you know he said you mean like cocaine i said no like aspirin and these things um it was a great panel i'll try to find it for you guys and uh post it up on youtube and you can listen to it uh he didn't remember my name and so he said uh you with the beard you look smart what do you think but larry the hell of a guy well he was a lot uh that when he took a gal out and he didn't have enough money to to buy anything and when she asked him to uh if he wanted to get some coffee he said oh no no i only have a hundred i don't think they can break it but he had a lot of wit a lot of charisma and he grew up in brooklyn and he's old school new york and there's not many of those left so we're certainly going to miss larry king and he was a legend just like mike wallace or any of these other guys the walter cronkites of their time and he was somebody that i really enjoyed listening to and really enjoyed the interviews and it was a really pivotal moment my career being able to talk to larry king in fact that was the moment for my uh my mom and prior to that she didn't really care too much about what i did but then after larry king interviewed me she said oh my gosh you must have made it you must be famous now okay i'll start actually taking your job seriously i said but mom i've been running these companies for a long time i'm making millions of dollars she said oh that's crypto stuff but then after larry king and she said wow okay you're a big shot so that was real fun we're certainly going to miss you yeah rest in peace larry 87 years old and the last few years have been real hard for him he had a heart attack and a stroke recently and unfortunately he contracted coronavirus early in the year and it was real real tough and he was eventually hospitalized and he's that exact demographic that's been having such a hard time with this we've lost a lot of good people in the last 12 months john conway the famous mathematician mr devil went down to georgia charlie danielson i miss him too but larry king is certainly a big one too and i hope that we don't see too many more this year it'd kill me if willie nelson died so that's it just a farewell and my uh condolences to the king's family i think he's survived by five kids and they have lots of grandkids i remember watching him on dave reuben's show here not too long ago and he took a phone call live on the show and it wasn't a a quick phone call it was a four minute personal phone call where his grandson called him he was just talking to him on the phone i guess you reach a certain point in your career where you just really don't care anymore you just do whatever you want to do and uh larry had reached that point and he was better for it all right thanks everyone and for listening and here's the larry king rest in peace our friend
