hi everybody charles hoskinson here from warm sunny colorado always warm always sunny sometimes colorado how's everybody doing pretty good got my ioh k uh coffee mug you know that's always fun to play around with hey real briefly so uh updates coming soon uh and um we're gonna have a show on thursday i believe next week which is the 30th uh which we'll discuss yeah it's the 30th yeah at the end of the month um that will discuss uh everything coming in august we got a lot of stuff going on right now exchange partners infrastructure partners running around you may have noticed that sebastian just made a video about your roy uh we'll include a lot of information about ledger and tresor and all kinds of other things about what's going to happen with them uh post hard fork uh not everybody is completely where they need to be yet for the for the hard fork so some of those services will temporarily go down for a week or two or maybe a little longer and there's mitigations for that if you absolutely need liquidity during that time period like restoring your wallet and daedalus for example so we'll cover all that next week and we'll talk about which exchanges uh will probably be ready to go for the 29th and which ones uh won't be um the uh stakeholder operators uh i've seen some chatter on the channel saying hey guys we need a clear roadmap and all these things we're still getting everything completely prepared for the update proposal and our uh window for that proposal is the 24th we're doing some last minute testing today uh if no problems occur we'll click that and then one epic passes and then the hard fork occurs on the 29th for whatever reason that is missed then the next opportunity to do it will be on the 29th and then it shifts everything by five days but i haven't gotten any indication that that things are failing so things are looking good but we'll know today about that that launch time that said no staking will actually begin until two epochs later so the 18th is when blocks are going to be made by stake pool operators and then over time the d parameter decrements to zero and then the whole network is 100 stateful but the moment of the hard fork it's still an obft network and it's starting to decentralize which means that it gives additional time for operators to configure get prepared and set up registered and so forth so so next week a lot more clarity will come to the spo side and whatever we hard fork with that is the configuration of the network to configure against because that's the update proposal that gets propagated and installed so just be a little patient we'll have more to say on friday and we'll have more to say over the weekend and all next week lots of comms is going to go to the spo side and step-by-step stuff will come that way we're just trying to get everything exactly where it needs to be and conduct all the tests it's been a very busy last two weeks um we actually worked the weekends and we've been working basically 24 7 because when one team finishes they hand off to a team in australia so as they're waking up and working it's like there so you may have noticed by the commit volume that uh it's just been a ridiculous amount of work mostly around just integration and configuration uh so each piece is working beautifully but then when you pull them together there's always rough edges to sand off and pull together and that's what's been happening for the last two weeks is getting all those integration pieces where they need to go node is stable all tests show good on 1.16 1.17 has some changes to it and we're testing that today the wallet back end has massively improved this month and that team is just unbelievably good daedalus team is unbelievably good too i'm proud everybody we really are and i wish we could get some sleep but uh that's for the week we uh we we got to get through this so anyway uh we'll we'll ping it tomorrow um if we get the green light for the update proposal and then everything is deterministic there at 29th it'll uh it'll hard fork signs point to yes for that uh the next window for it would be initiating the update proposal on the 29th so uh hopefully everything looks good uh and uh next week we'll start aggressively communicating with all the spos and getting everything sorted and don't worry you guys will be ready to go by the 18th uh you'll be fired up and i'll all clarity will come uh it's just mostly which stuff to use and so forth uh and um as for infrastructure we'll talk about that this weekend and next week and uh it'll be the big subject in the update we do at the end of the month about things uh so some exchanges uh already look pretty good like i think binance is good to go for the 29th and uh you know if you're using a wallet that's going to have a little bit of difficulty getting it all done by the 29th then you can either wait for them to finish the upgrade but if you need liquidity now you can restore with your wallet recovery phrase in daedalus and we'll have d'arco do a presentation on how to do that restoration for hardware devices and uroi in the product update that we do next week on thursday so that'll be available to everybody but i just wanted to make a quick video about all of it this is always the nature when you do a very significant upgrade from one major system to another system i remember going from windows xp to windows vista uh that was a fun upgrade for me i think this will be substantially less painful for everybody but nonetheless there's always a little bit of friction that's involved in an upgrade because people have to just get stuff working and they've built a lot of custom things and uh some things survive and other things don't survive those thresholds but overall as upgrades go uh this one's a pretty good one and we're pretty happy about it and it's been just truly amazing to see what we've done over the last two months and i'm really proud of the team for that they worked super super super hard it's one thing to show it working in a lab with simulations and say yeah we're confident it's another thing entirely to pull it all together test it in a real life situation and hand it to other people and have them use it and we did that and uh they rose to the occasion and every time something came up they fixed that and we've kept um a lot of the things where they need to be performance is looking good sync times are looking good memory utilization is looking good cpu utilization is looking good um it's great software uh you know normally it's a little rough when it comes out and you have to spend a few months making it less rough but as launches go this is really really good software and i'm proud that we were able to get there and get people where they need to go okay so i if we initiate the proposal tomorrow which i believe we will do let everybody know and then we'll get some uh david bowie playing or something like that who knows um otherwise it'll have to be initiated on the 29th which means that everything gets shifted by five days but we don't anticipate that with the current testing that we have and so i hope you guys are looking forward to the hard fork hope you guys are looking forward to shelly i sure as hell am this has been five years a long long effort and um to the state pool operators who have been so patient working so hard thank you for your patience thank you for all the testing thank you for everything you've done for us uh and next week we'll talk to you a lot and we'll have uh probably over this
